Shagreen Bayon Tea Set

The tea pot and its bowls are handmade on the potter wheel; the lid of the tea pot and its bowls are slightly chiseled with a lotus shape motif.

The lotus plant has a very special meaning in Buddhism and especially the lotus flower is one of the 8 sacred objects. This lotus motif is very present in Angkor Wat temple. The handle is made from rattan, hand tied with natural water lily fibers. The glaze is the result of our academics researches regarding ancient Cambodian glazes, and fired at high temperature (1300°C 2400°F).
