The elephant-headed god who was the son of shiva and the goddess Parvati, was worshipped as he who removes obstacles and brings prosperity. The original specimen dating from the seventh century, found at Tuol Pheak Kin and now in the Phnom Penh National Museum, he hold in his left hand a cup of sweets, and a radish in its other hand.
The main characteristics of the elephant are his strength and steadfastness. Therefore for Cambodian it is a symbol of physical and mental strength, as well as responsibility and earthiness. He considered as the guardian of the home and must always be so placed in a room that its head is facing the door.
